Standing here requires a certain patience, the way the creatures of the bay come alive to do their dance each morning as the sun rises over the city and the waters before it.
I woke up before dawn to drive to Cavallo Point for this morning’s sunrise. While today I was not blessed with the vibrant oranges of my balcony’s view, the clouds did make for a wonderful beginning to the day.
Though they are no friend to the fishermen here, and while I will always be partial to the pelicans flying above me over the bay, I love watching the seals compete for fish with all of them.
It’s peaceful here. Behind me, I can see and hear the roar and the vroom of the traffic atop the Golden Gate Bridge. The seagulls make the most noise of all, battling for the scraps no on else cares about.
I packed up to leave, appreciative of the view before me, but a little disappointed cos I knew how more it could have been. As I walked back to my car, I just happened to turn around when the oranges came out without warning. The sky once again looked brilliant.
So I stayed for another thirty minutes. Whatever I needed to do today could wait at least that long.
And just when I got into the car, the rains came. It’s going to be a great day.
