The Calm After the Storm

I’m not exactly sure why, but I was tossing and turning all night, unable to goto sleep. I tried counting sheep, and voicing meditations and prayers. It wasn’t until 4 AM before I entered dreamland. Next thing I knew, it’s 7 AM. The balcony door was wide open. Taylor was outside; and a rainstorm rivaling any monsoon I’ve experienced in India raged. I quickly brought Tay back in, drying him off with an old towel, wondering what possessed him to sit on the balcony.

The weather was still too torrential for Taylor’s morning walk; but there was almost a calm to the storm. It had let up slightly, enough for me to stand outside. It seemed like the world was reawakening on this day after MLK Day.

And then just like that, by the afternoon, though a little chilly (by west coast standards), the sun was back out.
