My random conversations with Grace, which normally come from way deep in left field, are normally a hoot. She can go from one subject to another on a turn of a dime, and for the most part, the two thoughts are completely unrelated connected by nothing but a thought. It’s unbelievable, but I find loads of humor in it. One particular evening, this randomly plopped into the middle of an unrelated conversation between us.
Cecil: Honey, do you want to watch The Commuter?
Grace: Is that the Liam Neeson one?
Cecil: Yup, that’s it.
Grace: Now let me tell you something. He’s someone I’ll never get on a train with! Some shit is always going wrong when he’s on a train! And that other one…
Cecil: Which one?
Grace: Forest Gump!
Cecil: You’re not getting on a train with Forest Gump?
Grace: YES!!
Cecil: You mean Tom Hanks?
Grace: I ain’t gettin on no train or plane with Tom Hanks! What’s that movie? Lost?
Cecil: You mean Castaway?
Grace: Yea, that one!
Cecil: You know honey, those are fictional movie characters. They’re not real.
Grace: You never know!
Cecil: So just so I understand you correctly— you will not get on a plane or a train with Tom Hanks or Liam Neeson?
Grace: Nope.
Cecil: Never?
Grace: Nope.
….moment of silence…
Grace: If Tom Hanks were on a plane I was in, either he goes or I go! But I will say, “Yo Tom Hanks, sign this for me! Then get the fuck outta here! Or I’m outta here!”
…Cecil… speechless…
