Throw Off the Bowlines: No Regrets

Taylor and I meet quite a few characters on our daily walks. And Tay is very inviting of conversations as he loves meeting new people, and on occasion, new dogs.

So it was that we met a man on a skateboard. Outfitted with a helmet and elbow and knee pads, he was taking the hills with a fervor.

Extremely affable, and instantly liked by Tay, we shot the shit for a bit.

And then he skated away.

At the bottom of the hill, we passed him again, this time talking to two young guys, either late teens or early twenties. “I wish I had started this sooner. I love skateboarding. I’m sixty now…”

I smiled walking by him. I couldn’t help it. Kudos to him for taking up a new hobby at sixty! We are only as old as we feel. We are as young as we believe.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

I don’t want to look back at life and ever have any regrets that I didn’t do what I wanted to do. This is what I decide to do every day, when I wake up.
