Last week, Taylor and I stumbled upon a cemetery on a hike with a buddy and his dog. In the three years we’d been here, I never knew a cemetery was close by. The hike there and back was a beautiful mile and a half. A couple days before the day we went, Taylor’s best friend Tucker had just passed away to Doggy Heaven. It was only appropriate that we would stumble upon a cemetery that day; we paid our respects.
This morning Taylor wanted to go again. It’d been raining almost every day this year it seemed. With a break this morning, we decided to brave it.
I remembered that Taylor had lingered at a headstone when we first went, but because he was further away, I couldn’t really make out what it was. Usually on our hikes, I’m usually well ahead of Taylor. He loves to stop and smell the roses. This morning, he led the entire way; and led me straight to the headstone that he lingered the last time.
I got chills all over my body when I saw what stone it was…. entitled “Georgia – May the Energy of Your Soul Shine Forth.”
Tucker had been laid to rest in Marietta, GA.
Taylor must have known.
